West Gonja “witch” butchers including chief arrested

[Ghanacrimes.com] — In a Facebook post, the Ghana Police Service, has stated that they have arrested five people in connection with the nearly lynching to death of a 50 year old alleged witch. The five people includes the Chief of Sumpini who is said to be complicit in the crime. The other suspects are Zakaria Abdul Karim (30 years), Shaibu Iddrisu (35years), Atta Alhassan (57 years) and Salugu Isahaku (alias Orulanaa aged 45 years).

The accused woman said she was attacked in her house by these arrested people. She has sustained serious skull and head wounds. She is currently on admission at the West Gonja District Hospital. The five arrested people are currently being arranged for court.

The Police has warned the general public to desist from taking the law into their own hands. The attack reportedly took place at Sumpini in the West Gonja District after the Bugum fire festival on Saturday, August 29 2020.
