When two people detained in connection with the Zamramaline Shooting were brought before an Accra Circuit Court, they were given bail.

Godfred Amegbor, a 29-year-old mobile money seller, and Offei Darko, a 28-year-old musician, are the two.

They are being held on charges of trespassing and aiding and abetting criminality.
Darko, on the other hand, is charged with inflicting damage and employing offensive weapons on three counts.

They have entered a no contest plea.

The two accused were each granted a bail of GHS100,000.00 with two sureties.

One of the sureties must be justifiable, and one of the sureties must be a civil official earning at least GHS2,000.00 per month.
Isaac Abbey, a 37-year-old military soldier, was charged with trespass, carrying an offensive weapon, and protecting land and interest in land, but he did not appear in court.

According to the prosecution, a check by the military leadership indicated that Abbey had not yet been released.
The Court has instructed the prosecution to write to the military leadership requesting Abbey’s release so that he can appear in court at the next adjourned date.

Mr. Sam Bright Acquah, who presided over the case, adjourned it till June 21, 2022.

Abbey was a military officer with the Education Unit at Teshie, Darko was a musician, Amegbor was a mobile money salesman at Lapaz, Accra, and Yahaya Tamimu, 32, was a trader, according to prosecuting Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Augustus Yirenkyi.

According to the prosecution, on June 4, 2022, Amegbor, who was seen on tape in a military uniform posing as a military official stationed at the Education Unit in Teshie, and Darko drove Abbey’s Ford SUV to a construction site at Dansoman in Accra for an illegal destroying exercise.

Mr Yirenkyi claimed they saw a crowd that included victims Faisal Khalid Azuma and Ali Hashimiru, who were both being treated for gunshot wounds at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital.

The victims confronted the accused and wanted a court warrant allowing them to demolish the property on the land, according to the prosecution, which sparked a heated argument between the two sides.

According to Mr Yirenkyi, Darko, who was seen in a video brandishing a revolver, targeted and shot at the victims, injuring Azuma on his left ankle, Hashimiru on his stomach, a 13-year-old Fawzan Inusah, a passerby on his buttocks, and three others in the crowd.

Hashimiru and three others were rushed to the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital, according to the prosecution.

Mr Yirenkyi said three were treated and released, but Hashimiru was kept owing to the severity of his injuries, while Inusah, 13, was taken to Shukura Community Clinic and treated and released.

Following the shooting, suspect Abbey apprehended the injured and took him to the Dansoman Police Station, where he filed a charge of causing damage to his vehicle, and the accused was arrested and held for further investigation.

Darko and Amegbor were eventually apprehended by Zamramaline teenagers and transported to the station after being severely beaten, according to the prosecution.

Mr Yirenkyi said the victim Azuma and the two accused were taken to the Dansoman Polyclinic and treated before being released.

The accused claimed that the gun was snatched from them by the crowd that assaulted them during the investigation.

The case is being investigated, according to the prosecution.
