39 pupils from the Krobea Asante Technical and Vocational School have been remanded by the Asokore Mampong District Court in relation to disturbances at the school. A total of 39 accused people were arraigned, of whom 12 young offenders and 27 minors. The accused have been accused of conspiring to commit a crime that included breaking and entering, doing unlawful damage, and stealing.
Attorneys representing the accused begged the court to release the students on bail, but the prosecution disagreed. After the hearing, the defendants’ attorney spoke to the media and issued a warning, saying, “It is premature for us to address the merits of the case, and we also can’t go into the content of whatever happened.”
His Worship presided over the Court. Samuel Buaben Quansah argued that the request for bail was premature and requested that the young criminals be held in police custody and the minors be housed in a juvenile facility. The matter has been postponed until February 2, 2023.
