A first-year general arts student at Koforidua’s Oyoko Methodist Senior High School was stabbed to death. Roland Asare, 18, was stabbed on Monday afternoon during a fight between his uncle and a co-tenant named Kwaku Kyere, also known as Old Soldier, in a home in the Ogua neighbourhood close to Koforidua Jackson Park. He passed away on Tuesday morning.
The deceased Nana Agyei’s uncle, a painter, told GHone TV that he and the suspect had a falling-out over the repair of a toilet facility in the home. On that tragic day, he witnessed the suspect verbally harassing his 60-year-old mother, but the suspect became furious when he intervened to save her.
This led to fisticuff which the now deceased boy attempted to come to his rescue but was stabbed by the suspect who had a knife on him. The victim was rushed to the Eastern Regional Hospital but was pronounced dead the following day.
The family of the deceased including comfort Essah grandmother who raised him since the death of their mother at infancy wants justice to be served. The suspect, Kwaku Kyere alias Old Soldier has been arrested and in the custody of the Koforidua Central Police station.
