A commercial bus carrying people and an articulated truck collided head-on leaving numerous passengers fighting for their lives. On Tuesday June 21, 2022, at about 9:00 p.m. an accident happened on the Accra to Kumasi Highways in the Eastern area near Oframase and Nkawkaw.
The head-on crash according to an eyewitness occurred when both vehicles attempted to overtake a stationary Rhino truck carrying charcoal in the middle of the road without monitoring oncoming traffic. The passengers of the bus especially those in the front seats were gravely hurt according to an eyewitness who talked to GhanaCrimes.com shortly after the collision. He claimed that the police arrived on the spot a short while later to free the victims and transport them to Holy Family Hospital in Nkawkaw.
In a related occurrence, a near-fatal collision involving 22 passengers happened on the Accra to Kumasi Highway at Densuso near Suhum at approximately 12:15 pm the same day. A sprinter bus travelling from Accra to Kumasi with the registration number AC 435 -20 was involved in the accident. The driver of the Sprinter bus lost control of the steering wheel as a result of a tyre blowout while travelling at high speed. 22 injured individuals including the driver and kids were sent to the Suhum government hospital for treatment.
