A pregnant woman, Salamatu Ali, was allegedly assaulted at the Tamale Teaching Hospital in Ghana. Salamatu had gone to the hospital for an operation with her child and was discharged before leaving to pay her bills. However, upon her return, the security man reportedly refused to grant her entry, leading to the assault.

Eyewitnesses reported that Salamatu’s sister, who was with her due to her weakness, also tried to confront the security man and was beaten up as well. Another woman who was filming the incident was also assaulted at the health facility. The matter has been reported to the police for further investigation. This incident ensued on Monday, May 1, 2023.

The Public Relations Officer of the Tamale Teaching Hospital, Aliru Zubaru, confirmed that the hospital is aware of the incident and is currently investigating the situation. Zubaru assured the public that if the culprits are found guilty, the necessary punishment will be meted out to them.
