Around 30 students from Divine Charisma International School in Atwima Boko, Ashanti Region, found themselves in a terrifying ordeal when their school bus veered off the road and plunged into a nearby river. The incident, which took place on June 5, 2023, caused panic among parents and residents who blamed the accident on the deplorable state of the road. Fortunately, there were no casualties reported at the time of this report, but all the students were promptly taken to Akoma Specialist Hospital for medical attention.
Witnesses at the scene recounted the harrowing experience, with one parent, Jacob Agyenim Boateng, expressing concern as two of the affected students were his own children. According to him, the accident occurred after the school bus tumbled from a dilapidated bridge, sending it crashing into the river below. The exact cause of the accident remains unclear, but the state of the road infrastructure was cited as a contributing factor.
