The American visa application for Ghanaian rapper Medikal, also known as Samuel Adu Frimpong, has apparently been rejected.
A Twitter user named “CheEsquire” claims that, the rapper was fired on Tuesday, June 21, 2022, following an interview in the US Embassy in Accra. According to our source, the decision to dismiss him was motivated by a gun-brandishing event for which he was found guilty earlier this year.
According to reports, Medikal arrived at the embassy around 7.30 am wearing a black hoodie and face mask. He entered the building, and within an hour, he learned his fate. According to reports, Medikal’s label mate Armani was also bounced. Sarkodie, another musician, was also on the premises with his wife and daughter for the same reason as Medikal, and the two had a brief conversation.
Our sources claim that Sarkodie and his family, who were at the Embassy’s immigration division (American Citizens Service/ACS), were given visas. In September 2021, Medikal was found guilty of openly discharging a firearm and had a Ruger 9mm pistol on display in his vehicle. Later, he uploaded a video of the arm to Instagram. The video quickly gained popularity and led to his arrest on October 21, 2021. He was held in prison for five days before being released on bail in the amount of GH $100,000 with one surety. He was found guilty of unlawfully displaying weaponry in public by an Accra Circuit Court in February 2022. After changing his plea from not guilty to guilty of the charge, Medikal was found guilty. The “La Hustle” hitmaker was subsequently given a sentence of 300 penalty units, or GH3,600, by the court presided over by His Honour Emmanuel Essandoh. He will spend nine months in jail if he doesn’t pay.
