Nigerian woman jailed for human trafficking

[Ghanacrimes.com] —- A Nigerian by name, Kate Igugu Agbarha-Oto has been jailed for 5 years by an Accra Circuit Court on two counts of attempt to commit crime to wit human trafficking.

The suspect is reported to have lured two adult victims to Ghana on the premise of working at a restaurant but later attempted introducing them into prostitution upon their arrival.

Agbarha-Oto, a mother of five (5) pleaded guilty to the charges. She was convicted and sentenced to five years in prison by Mrs Christina Cann who presided over the court.

Prosecution stated that the victims arrived in Ghana on March 25, 2021 and was accommodated by the suspect at Kotobabi number two. The suspect then handed the victims condoms , coercing them into prostitution but the victims refused and reported the case to the Baatsona Police on 29th March, 2021. This led to the arrest and the eventual sentencing of the suspect.
