Innocent Aidoo, a 19-year-old junior high school graduate, is paralyzed after allegedly suffering terrible violence at the hands of a spiritualist and other men in military uniform in Gomoa Mprumem in the Central area. Before beating the victim, the spiritualist and the alleged troops attacked his home and opened fire.
The victim is now bedridden, and his ability to regain his previous level of health is in jeopardy. Innocent Aidoo, the victim, was transferred from the Catholic Hospital to the Cape Coast Teaching Hospital after spending days there. He was then transferred to Korle Bu when he continued to show little improvement.
The severity of the attack caused him to go into coma for several days and regained consciousness but in a paralyzed state. According to doctors, part of his spinal cord and waist got fractured. The Attackers wearing military gear and Abdulai Nyamekye, also known as Malam Yawadudu, a spiritualist based in Gomoa Ankamu close to the Mprumem community, attacked Aidoo, who was getting ready for senior high school, his mother, and his two other siblings.
The victim allegedly got into a fight about money from a gambling operation they had in Kwakukwaa, a tiny town also in the Central area. When the spiritualist and the aforementioned troops discovered Aidoo’s father was not in the family’s home, they brutalized them amid sporadic gunfire.
Aidoo has currently been relocated to a different home since he has traumatized. Although the case is still ongoing before the Agona Swedru circuit court, the victim’s family is making an appeal to the state for justice to be served. Malam Yawadudu, when contacted, refuses to speak to the media. Two years ago, young people in the neighborhood where the spiritualist is located staged a protest against him and requested that he be exiled. They charged him with participating in alleged local ritual killings.
