In a shocking incident, a 25-year-old woman named Eunice was allegedly murdered by her husband in Nungua, a suburb in the Greater Accra Region of Ghana. According to reports, the victim was inflicted with cutlass wounds during a scuffle with her husband, and she died on the spot after the attack. The suspect also attacked his father-in-law during the altercation.
Eunice had moved out of her husband’s house due to the emotional and physical abuse she suffered at his hands. Her father, Ebenezer Dwomoh, revealed in an interview on Adom FM’s morning show, Dwaso Nsem, that his son-in-law was a serial wife beater who had made life a living hell for his daughter. He also mentioned that Eunice had gone to her husband’s house to present a summon letter from the Domestic Violence and Victims Support Unit when the incident occurred.
Dwomoh expressed shock at his daughter’s untimely demise and called on the police to ensure that the suspect faces the full weight of the law. He revealed that the suspect attempted to flee the scene after committing the heinous crime but was apprehended by residents in the area, who subjected him to a severe beating.
The victim’s father further revealed that the suspect had been following his daughter everywhere she went and beating her, even when she moved out of their house. He noted that what broke the camel’s back was when Eunice threatened divorce, and her husband decided to take matters into his own hands.
The incident has sparked outrage among Ghanaians, with many calling for justice for the victim. The Ghana Police Service has launched an investigation into the matter, and the suspect is expected to face trial soon.
