David Ayornu, a 31-year-old farm laborer suspected of murder, has been remanded in prison custody for two months by the Ada Magistrate Court, presided over by her ladyship Paulina Kwakyewa.
The Ada Divisional Police Command arrested David Ayornu on Friday, June 3rd, 2022, for allegedly murdering his wife, Theresa Kwao, about 1:30 a.m. at Lufenya in the Ada East District.
The Chief of Lufenya Nene Glover Owusu Ayornu, whose house was across the street from the couple’s, heard a loud commotion from the deceased crying for aid, according to Police Prosecutor Inspector Godfred Yeboah of the Big-Ada Police station.
Inspector Yeboah went on to say that Nene Glover Owusu Ayornu gathered a group of neighbors and brought them to the couple’s home, where they encountered the accused outside.
He claimed that when they questioned him about his wife’s call for assistance, he told them that there had been a minor quarrel between them, but that they had resolved it and that the dead had even left for the market.
Inspector Yeboah claimed that the Chief, who was not convinced by the accused person’s answer and behavior, went into their bedroom and discovered the deceased laying in a pool of blood, her intestines gashing out, and a blood-stained knife.
He concluded that the Chief, along with the area’s Assemblyman, Mark Ayiku, notified the Kasseh Police, who detained the accused and transported the deceased to the Police Hospital for autopsy.
Police discovered a significant slash on the deceased’s chest and stomach, according to Inspector Yeboah.
During the comital process, the Court presided over by Her Ladyship Paulina Kwakyewa denied the Prosecution’s motion to put the accused individual in jail custody for three months and instead remanded him for two months.
The case has been rescheduled until August 10, 2022, pending the Attorney General’s decision.
