Ho social media lotto fraudsters arrested

[Ghanacrimes.com] —  Three accused persons, Godwin Agbenyefia, alias Demon, aged 19; Reuben Abusah, alias Last Burial, 20; Kelvin Kwame Abouzi, alias Kartel, 20 have been arrested for allegedly using social media to commit lottery fraud.

They have defrauded Faustina Sitsofe Azameti and John Teitey an amount of Ghc9,200.00. The three were arrested at a hotel in Ho following a complaint by the National Lottery Authority. According to the Authority, they have been using social media platforms like Facebook, WhatsApp and others to defraud people using the naming of their institution.

The victims which include Faustina Sitsofe and John Teitey, contacted the three boys and offered them some amount of money to be used to stake lotto for them. The three then sent them a fake winning coupon which indicated that the two have won the lotto while in actual fact they hadn’t. The three subsequently switched their phones off and were nowhere to be found again.

The NLA has won the public to desist from such scams as it has not authorised anyone on their behalf to stake guaranteed winning lotto for people.
