An Accra Circuit Court has sentenced a 27-year-old footballer to 12 years in prison for allegedly defiling a 13-year-old girl on three separate times in Mamprobi in Accra. At the conclusion of the trial, Richard Mensah was found guilty on three counts of defilement by the court presided over by Mrs. Christina Cann.
The complaint was a trader and the victim’s sister, according to the prosecution, which was headed by Chief Inspector Simon Tekpor. According to the report, Mensah, a football player, shared a home with the complainant and victim. The girlfriend of the defendant traveled to Akraman, Accra, on March 11, 2022, for a funeral, the court was informed.
According to the prosecution, Mensah requested the victim to come to his room at around 3:00 pm so that he could help the kids with their homework while his girlfriend was away. According to the report, Mensah requested his children to wait outside while he and the victim remained in the room after the victim had finished helping his kids with their homework.
Mensah allegedly undressed the victim after which they engaged in an anus and vaginal intercourse. According to the report, on March 12, 2022, around 4:00 pm, while the victim was with Mensah’s kids, he once more invited her into his room and had intercourse with her.
According to the prosecution, the accused called the victim on March 14, 2022, at 1:00 pm, and requested her to help his girlfriend prepare lunch. As the victim complied, Mensah’s girlfriend left while the dinner was being prepared. Mensah allegedly took advantage of his girlfriend’s absence and had sex with the victim, according to the prosecution. According to the prosecution, the complainant went to the Mensah’s house that same day at around 9:00 p.m. in search of the victim. According to the prosecution, the victim was discovered in Mensah’s room and said they had had intercourse there.
