Uncle Amoah, 52 a farmer has hanged himself at Breman Essiam in the Central Region’s Ajumako Enyan Essiam District. On Sunday, June 26, 2022, at about 8:30pm,the occurrence took place. According to information acquired, the deceased man’s wife had threatened to leave him, and because he couldn’t bear the thought of losing her, he decided to take his own life. It is rumoured that the the wife of the deceased who’s a businesswoman spent more than six months away from home on business travels, transporting goods like cassava, oranges, and plantains to various locations around the country.
The wife, who was reportedly away for over one year, returned on Saturday June, 25, 2022 in the evening and told her husband that she was walking away from the marriage. She’s said to have gone to the market and bought all the marriage items her late husband bought for the marriage rites to be performed years ago and threatened to return the items to his family and walk out of the marriage. Disturbed by her wife’s threat, the deceased on Sunday evening told his children that he was going to Town only for them to be informed that their father has hanged himself on a pit latrine.
Some residents who were going to ease themselves on the toilet saw him hanging on the toilet. After the event was reported to the Nkwantanum Police Station, officers arrived on the site and transported the deceased to the mortuary of the Saltpond Government Hospital.
