Floodwaters washed away a Prison officer who was saving residents from being washed away along the Cape Coast-Elmina Highway in the Central Region’s Komenda Edina Eguafo Abraim Municipality.
The body of the said Officer,whose name has not been released, is still missing.The incident occurred on June 18th, when roughly 30 Ankaful Prison officials were assigned to the area to aid flooding locals.
According to information obtained by Ghanacrimes, the prison authorities were rescuing stuff being washed away from the residents’ rooms when one of them was swept away.
Mr. Joe Donkor, the Central Regional NADMO Director, confirmed the occurrence in an interview, adding that attempts are underway to recover the remains.
