According to a report by Kasapa News’, some 30 thugs assaulted the Chief of the town and members of the Community. These men were in possession of firearms and cutlasses with the intent to kill anyone they encountered on the street.
Five people from the community were shot by these armed men when they mobilised themselves and confronted the armed men.The Chief of Adanse Praso was also shot.
The community members later apprehended two of these armed men and handed them over to the police. This has left the community restless as they seek to find the remaining armed men.
In an interview with Kasapa News, Nana Okofo Tabi I (Kyidomhene of the Adanse Praso) revealed that fraudulent activities among the youth of Adanse Praso lead to the formation of a Volunteering Group to patrol the community and enforce law and order. The youth formed various gangs to challenge the volunteers as they felt their activities were being restricted by that of the volunteer group. The saddest aspect, according to Nana Okofo Tabi is that these crooks weeded away 3 acres of rice crops and 5-acre of cocoa farms belonging to one of the volunteers.
The police chief has since urged officers to beef up security in the area to protect law-abiding residents.
