A task team created by the Afigya Kwabre South District of the Ashanti Region has subjected a young man in his 30s to brutal beatings and manhandling. A weird video obtained by Akoma FM shows a group of seven well-built guys dressed in military uniform thrashing a young man.
The victim of the claimed cruel conduct by the task force team, identified as John Okyere, exclusively talked on Akoma FM’s current events and politics show GhanAkoma on Wednesday, June 15 and explained that he is a mason and was working on a project site at Kodie. “While I was working at the site, some people came in a branded pick-up truck with the Assembly’s mark stamped on the left and right sides of the truck,” he said to the show’s sit-in presenter JB. They urged me to stop working, so I decided to gather my equipment; however, they prevented me from doing so, and they jumped on me, pounding me left, right, and centre.”
The young man claimed that after hitting him, the taskforce team left him unconscious and went. A different story may have been told if it hadn’t been for the prompt involvement of some neighbouring people who expressed worry and took him to the hospital.
John Okyere also called for a prompt police probe to guarantee that justice is done. During an off-air exchange, the area’s District Chief Executive, Adu Poku Christian, said that he had just come across the footage and would summon individuals involved for appropriate sanctions.
