The mill and factory of HGL Limited, one of Ghana’s fastest-growing rice producers with headquarters in the Volta Region’s Adaklu area, have sustained significant damage as a result of a storm and whirlwind. The storm struck the mill on February 25, 2023, about 5 o’clock. It severely damaged the building housing the mill, toppled a combined harvester, tore off some of the company’s machinery, tore off its roofs, and destroyed some of the Gogo rice brand’s production equipment.
Since it began operating in 2020, HGL has grown its own crops and purchased rice from farmers and co-ops in the Volta Region to mill in its state-of-the-art factory. In order for the business to resume production, Mr. Klutsey claims that urgent action must be taken by the corporation to rectify the damage. “It will be quite expensive to remedy this. So we must see to it that the mill is fixed as soon as possible so that we may continue to supply our devoted customers with our beloved Gogo jasmine rice and so that people whose lives depend on it do not suffer unnecessarily.
