The Akyem Anyinasin Methodist Junior High School has been closed since Friday, July 29, 2022 as a result of nine (9) individuals being detained by the Akyem Tafo District Police Command for attacking a teacher at the school. The suspects include six (6) local inhabitants and three (3) Junior High School kids -a final year and 2 form two students. An effort was being made to apprehend the owner of a drug store who is accused of selling drugs to local children.
At an emergency meeting with the Chiefs and opinion leaders of Akyem Anyinasin, the Ghana Education Service (GES), the Abuakwa North Municipal Security Council (MUSEC), and them on August 1, 2022, they were detained after confessing to the crime. It was discovered that one of the suspect students’ uncles runs a drug store in the neighborhood and sells psychopharmacological medications illegally, especially tramadol and D10, which are misused by young people. As a result, the student gives some of these substances to his gang to use with them. The boy apparently brought some drugs to school on the fateful day of July 24, 2022, to use with his friends; as a result, he was groggy and sleepy in class.
Following dismissal, the students went to summon their townies as allies to assault the teacher, threaten him, and coerce him into kneeling and making remorseful statements. The suspects were forced to sign a bond of good behavior during the meeting in the Chief’s palace, but they were later detained and transported to the Akyem Tafo District Police Command to help with the ongoing investigation.
The accused would be punished to act as a deterrence, according to MUSEC, which is led by Alhaji Umar Bodinga, the chief executive of Abuakwa North Municipality. The teacher of the victim has asked the Ghana Education Service to remove him from the neighborhood. The GES anticipates that Anyinasin Methodist JHS will reopen on Tuesday, August 2, 2022.The instructor watched and reprimanded them for associating with local gangsters to partake in immoral behavior. The teacher later disciplined them.
