The Youth in the Community have caught eight armed robbers who attacked and shot five individuals, including the Chief, at Adanse Praso in the Assin North District. On the night of Friday, June 17, the suspects were apprehended on a Cocoa farm.They have been handed over to the New Edubeasi Police for an investigation.
According to Kasapa News Reporter Yaw Boagyan, armed robbers numbering around 30 attacked the Chief and residents of Adanse Praso, ransacked the Palace, forcing the chiefs and residents to flee into a bush, where five residents were shot and are currently being treated at the Assin Praso Presbyterian Hospital.
Some Youth from Adanse Praso who have traveled outside the town upon hearing of the incident returned home in their numbers and supported the watchdog committee members to arrest eight armed robbers while pursuing the others.
Residents are however appealing to the Inspector General of Police to beef up security in the area as they are living in fear and panic and can not go about their daily activities in peace. Their food is decaying, they claim, because people from adjacent communities who used to buy from them are now unable to do so due to security concerns.
Nana Otuo Acheampong, the community’s Adontenhen, has called on to the Inspector General of Police to help the community by providing a police post to improve security in the region.
