A 25 year old cobbler who defiled a 15 year old girl in the lavatory has been given a 10 year prison term by an Adentan Circuit Court. According to reports, Kwabena Appiah approached the victim after seeing her taking a bath and entering the bathroom, asking her to bend down, and then had intercourse with her from behind. Appiah admitted to the defilement charge.
On the basis of his own admission, Appiah was found guilty and sentenced appropriately by the court presided over by Sedinam Awo Balokah. According to Chief Superintendent of Police Patience Mario, the complainant is a 39-year-old housecleaner who lives in Madina, Accra. The complainant and the perpetrator, who is now convicted, both lived in the same neighborhood, according to Chief Supt. Mario. According to the prosecution, the victim was a junior in high school.
It claimed that the complainant’s husband informed her (the complainant) on April 7, 2023, that their daughter was “no longer a virgin.” According to the prosecution, the victim called the complainant and her husband to affirm that she was not a virgin and that Appiah had had intercourse with her on April 5 in the bathroom.
It said the complainant reported the matter to the Madina Domestic Violence and Victims Support Unit and a Police Medical Report form was issued to the victim to seek medical care for the victim. The prosecution said Appiah was nabbed and in his caution statement, he admitted the offence.
